Welcome! My name is Soni Fitzhugh. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Maryland, holding a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. My counseling style is person-centered, reflecting my core values. As a counselor, I focus on empowering my clients. Empowerment begins within the therapeutic relationship, where you, the client, become an equal partner in the helping and healing process. I am dedicated to helping people lead healthy and productive lives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The most empowering intervention is education because it encourages clients to identify their patterns and barriers to wellness. I have become increasingly aware that counselors are not here to give advice or tell clients what to do because it robs them of the opportunity to figure it out for themselves. I like to give clients the fighting chance they need to thrive in life. I like working with adults and teens. My mission is to create, nurture, and allow a climate of growth, connection, and potential to blossom in my clients.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
