My name is Sonia Vasquez, and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I am a client-centered therapist who focuses on my clients’ strengths. I have assisted clients struggling with anxiety, depression, family and/or work conflicts, end of life, and chronic illness. My approach I utilize a strengths-based, client-centered approach and incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy. My focus In the past 5–10 years, I have worked with adults aged 18 to 90. I support transitional age youth, adults, and older adults through life changes, chronic illness, and end of life. My communication style I work with clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I have a relaxed, easygoing style and allow clients to express themselves comfortably. My journey to therapy Social work has always been an interest and way of life for me. My parents were the first called when family or friends needed help. I have seen family members and friends face struggles and wished they had more professional support. Various jobs taught me about helping others cope with life. I pursued this as a career, earning my Master’s in Social Work at California State University, Long Beach, and becoming a licensed clinical social worker. I enjoy meeting people and listening to their stories. If I can help, I am happy to provide support and resources. Being a social worker is a 24/7 role, which I love! My goals for you In the first and second sessions, we explore and set goals for treatment together. My first session with you I want to get to know you, so I will ask you to share what you feel comfortable sharing to start, then discuss current concerns.
