Stacey Ruiz, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Stacey! My name is Stacey Ruiz, and I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Southern California. I earned my Master's in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach. I work with children and adolescents to help navigate feelings of anxiety, stress, grief, and loss, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and play-based interventions to help them begin feeling better. My approach My approach to therapy starts with creating a safe and supportive space to identify each client's needs. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and play-based interventions to help my clients develop healthy thinking patterns and coping strategies. My focus I enjoy working with children and adolescents, as well as collaborating with their parent(s) or legal guardian(s). Most often, I help my clients learn to effectively manage their stress and/or anxiety surrounding friendships, life transitions, grief and loss, and self-esteem. My communication style I strive to provide a warm and secure space where open communication is highly welcomed and encouraged. We will work as a team and actively collaborate to reach your goals by leaning on your strengths and social support to help sustain your ongoing progress. My journey to therapy My journey to becoming a therapist started 10 years ago when I found myself working with elementary-school-aged students who often sought someone who was a good listener and a supportive adult (i.e., their personal cheerleader). In some cases, my students found it difficult to have these types of adults in their lives due to many reasons (e.g., divorce, financial instability, poor family dynamics, etc.). As a result, I challenged myself to become a version of a supportive and non-judgmental adult by pursuing a career as a therapist. Today, my genuine motivation to help our current and future generations strive to be their best selves fuels my daily work.
