Getting to know Stephanie Anyakwo

Los Angeles native Stephanie Anyakwo received her undergraduate degree at Loyola Marymount University, majoring in Psychology and African American Studies. She continued her education at Azusa Pacific University, where she earned her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, she studied Applied Behavior Analysis at Florida Institute of Technology, becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2014 and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2016. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Stephanie combines over 10 years of experience in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) with her practice of psychotherapy. This fusion brings a unique style to assisting adults, children, and families in achieving their goals while creating a space for individuals to feel secure and connect with themselves. Throughout her career, she has provided therapy to clients within various communities, schools, and agencies, as well as through private practice. Stephanie's role is not to push her own agenda; conversely, she works collaboratively with all clients to set goals, provide evidence-based and mindful strategies to help achieve these goals, and engage in positive reinforcement throughout the journey. Society may foster the belief that seeking help is a sign of weakness. Stephanie believes that the strongest thing any human being can do is to connect with another person to heal, grow, and remain balanced.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Let’s collaborate on strategies to help you become your best self. All my clients have a unique story to tell. My role is to individualize your treatment according to the issue that brought you to therapy, your cultural background, and your personal value system. I don’t believe in staying in therapy forever! At the end of treatment, I want you to feel like no matter what life throws at you, you have the tools to navigate as a healthy and confident person. And if plan A doesn’t work out, you have 25 more options. Being first generation, I am fully aware of the important role of diversity, and how cultural and personal expectations can affect you both positively and negatively. My role is to assist you in creating new thought patterns and schemas to best fit how your life presents today.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
