Getting to know Stephanie Clark

Hi, my name is Stephanie Clark, LMFT. I have a depth approach, understanding where you have come from to where you are today. I focus on codependency, the grief and loss process, addiction, domestic violence, cognitive distortions, healthy relationship attributes versus toxic attributes, and emotional maturity. My approach I explore childhood upbringing. I use CBT-based interventions to support clients, including self-monitoring, identification of cognitive distortions, mindfulness/relaxation skills, and identifying and adapting maladaptive core beliefs. I use the client-centered and positive psychology approaches, exploring solutions to life challenges. My focus I have worked with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, and marriage and family difficulties. I typically work with adults 18 and older, couples, and individuals. My communication style I come with an open, honest, and positive tone, creating a comfortable environment to share and explore feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. My journey to therapy My undergraduate degree was in psychology, graduating in 1982. I married, raised children, coached soccer, led addiction recovery groups in a Christian environment, and experienced the loss of a son to drug overdose at age 52, prompting me to go back to graduate school the following year. I studied addiction counseling and counseling psychology to become an LMFT. I hold a Master's in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University and a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, training in the art of marriage, family, and individual psychotherapy. My goals for you I explore with clients their goals for therapy, discussing objectives to reach those goals. My first session with you I want clients to feel comfortable sharing what's on their mind and share my background, personally and educationally.
