Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Stephanie! Hi! I'm Stephanie Harimoto, and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. My style as a therapist is based on the belief that compassion and curiosity can fuel healing to the parts of us that feel stuck and overwhelmed. My approach I use a trauma-informed, relational, person-centered approach to therapy. I pull from different modalities, including attachment theory, psychodynamic, and systems theories. This means that I focus on collaboration with my clients, creating safety, partnering with them to help them dive deep into the roots of their pain, all while giving them tools to move forward with new options for thriving. My focus I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including trauma work, family of origin issues, anxiety, neurodiversity, identity formation, and life transitions. Clients who are in helping professions and experiencing burnout are also drawn to my work. Additionally, have specialized training in religious trauma and spiritual abuse. My communication style One of my values as a therapist is authenticity. I approach sessions in a warm, engaging, and collaborative way. I often use humor and our shared humanity to drive sessions forward while making safety for the (sometimes big) feelings that come up while doing this work. My journey to mental healthcare Becoming a therapist came from my own lived experiences with anxiety and trauma. These experiences, alongside my love for understanding what makes us who we are, drew me to the field. I find deep joy in working with clients to help them reconnect to themselves and others. My goals for you In the first few sessions, we'll work together to establish what you need from the therapy space. This becomes the umbrella that we work under and frames our sessions. There's always space to bring up what's feeling important to you that week, and I am always thinking back to what brought us together in the first place.
