Getting to know Stephanie O'Sullivan

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming especially if you’re used to holding everything together for everyone else. My goal is to create a space where you can finally exhale. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) providing telehealth therapy for adults navigating ADHD, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and major life transitions. I specialize in working with women and with individuals who are managing ADHD including comprehensive ADHD assessments and who may feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, or stuck despite being highly capable. In our work together, we focus not only on symptom relief, but on understanding patterns, strengthening coping skills, and building a more regulated and confident version of you. I take a warm, collaborative approach balancing practical tools with deeper insight so you leave sessions feeling supported and equipped. Whether you're adjusting to a new chapter, healing from past experiences, or trying to better understand your brain, therapy can be a place of clarity and forward movement. You don’t have to navigate it alone.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is collaborative, practical, and compassionate. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can be fully honest without judgment while also leaving with tools you can actually use in your daily life. In our sessions, we will explore patterns, emotions, and experiences at a pace that feels safe and manageable. I tend to balance insight-oriented work (understanding the “why”) with skill-building (figuring out the “what now?”). If you struggle with ADHD, we will focus not only on symptoms but on how your brain works and how to build systems that support you rather than shame you. I am direct when needed, but always grounded in empathy. You can expect warmth, structure, and thoughtful guidance especially during times of transition, grief, or trauma processing. Most importantly, I see therapy as a partnership. We will set goals together and adjust as needed, so your treatment reflects your life, not a one-size-fits-all model.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is focused on getting to know you your history, what’s bringing you in now, and what you’d like to see change. We will talk through current stressors, patterns you’ve noticed, and any previous therapy experiences so we can tailor our work to you from the start. If you are seeking an ADHD assessment, we will begin with a detailed clinical interview and structured screening tools. I look at both current symptoms and developmental history to ensure an accurate and thoughtful evaluation. If ADHD is part of the picture, we will then shift into building practical strategies, executive functioning supports, and emotional regulation skills that align with how your brain works. In ongoing sessions, we typically check in on the week, address immediate concerns, and then work toward longer-term goals. Some sessions are insight-focused, exploring trauma or deeper patterns. Others are more skills-based and solution-oriented. The pace is always collaborative and adjusted to what feels productive and manageable for you. My goal is for you to leave sessions feeling clearer, supported, and equipped not overwhelmed.
