Psychotherapist
1006 Robertson St, Ste 110, Fort Collins, CO
Hi! My name is Stephanie, and I'm a bilingual (English-Spanish) and bicultural (Mexican-American) therapist. I support adults, young adults, and adolescents (12+) in overcoming issues related to trauma, navigating the challenges of living between two cultures, and setting boundaries to maintain healthy family relationships through a trauma-informed, person-centered, and liberation-based approach. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, body image, or relationship issues, know that you are not alone and that you are taking a tremendous step toward your healing. I would be honored to work with you. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Colorado State University, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care. I extend a special invitation to those who may not feel comfortable in all therapy spaces: undocumented and immigrant individuals, monolingual Spanish speakers, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and others holding marginalized identities. In therapy, I aim to create space to discuss issues of oppression and identity openly. When working with me, you will be welcomed into a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where we can build a therapeutic relationship based on safety and trust. If any of this resonates with you, I would love to schedule a 20-30 minute consultation to see if we would be a good fit!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use a variety of therapy techniques and modalities to help move us towards your therapy goals in a way that centers your expertise and needs. I strive to be collaborative and client-centered in my practice and use an informal but direct approach. Some of the main therapy modalities I tend to use are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Together, we will discuss what has brought you to therapy and gain a deep understanding of the issue and its history. We will also identify and address other factors which may be influencing your mental health such as family upbringing and systems of oppression. Sessions begin with discussing any pressing/relevant things that came up during the week. We will then proceed to discuss progression of symptoms, check-in on your goals for therapy, and pick up with where we left off. I like to create goals and objectives together in our first two sessions serve as a guide for what we address in therapy and helps us to see understand how far we have progressed. Towards the end of the session, we wrap up with any homework for the following week and confirm our next session date.
