Getting to know Steven Nguyen
Hello, my name is Steven Nguyen. I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker with a decade of experience working with youth, adults, and families. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Social Behavior with minors in Criminology and Sociology from the University of California, Irvine, and a Master's in Social Work from California State University, Dominguez Hills. I am currently licensed in California as a Clinical Social Worker by the Board of Behavioral Sciences and hold a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from the California Teaching Commission. I am also a Board Certified Diplomate with the American Board of Clinical Social Work.
My career has spanned many different settings such as child welfare, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, school districts, and clinical supervision. I aim to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can feel authentically yourself. My belief in this approach is to empower you to embrace life's challenges and overcome obstacles that may stand in your way. I understand that change is not easy and truly believe that going at a pace you're comfortable with will lead to effective growth. Life is hard, and I would be honored to help you navigate the twists and turns to achieve your goals!
What should a new client know about working with you?
I believe rapport is everything! Who wants to share their most personal and intimate experiences, challenges, and desires with a stranger? Trust needs to be earned and is not given automatically. And I understand that. My sessions will focus on establishing comfort in order to help you feel more open sharing. Only then can progress and treatment begin. I plan on focusing on whatever needs or concerns that you may have; this could range from issues with self-esteem, relationships, future aspirations, etc. I am flexible and adaptable to any needs or concerns that you may have.
More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
