Getting to know Steven Stome Joseph

I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker with experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, and emergency psychiatric services, including work within the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) at Stony Brook University Hospital. I work with children, teens, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, adjustment challenges, and crisis situations, and I bring both clinical skill and compassion to a wide range of needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m passionate about providing compassionate, culturally responsive, and patient-centered care. My goal is to help clients feel supported and empowered throughout their mental health journey, especially during times of heightened stress or uncertainty. I earned my Master of Social Work from Fordham University and am currently pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) at Stony Brook University, further deepening my commitment to thoughtful, high-quality care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you are ready to get started, schedule an initial assessment visit (intake) through Zocdoc. After you book an appointment, a care coordinator will reach out to review your method of payment and/or insurance number and answer any initial questions you may have before our first visit.
