Subha Smith, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a licensed clinical social worker with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Azusa Pacific University and a Master’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles. I have over 10 years of experience working in the mental health field, including both inpatient psychiatric and community-based settings. I have worked with adults of all ages from diverse ethnocultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, including the LGBTQ+ community. My experience includes supporting individuals facing anxiety, depression, substance abuse, relationship issues, dual diagnosis, grief, trauma, and women’s issues. My passion for mental health began in college when I recognized the disproportionate lack of South Asian mental health professionals. Having immigrated from India to the United States as a child, I have personally experienced how acculturation can significantly impact mental health and overall well-being. My theoretical approach is largely client-centered, with clients leading the direction of their treatment, as they are the foremost experts of their own lives. I also incorporate therapeutic models such as psychodynamic, feminist, and motivational interviewing approaches. My goal is to help clients realize their potential as leaders of change in their own lives. I strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment where clients can share any issues without fear of judgment. As society evolves, so do the challenges affecting mental and emotional health. I am committed to staying current with various interventions and maintaining cultural competence. Providing the highest quality mental and emotional healthcare is deeply important to me, as it benefits not only individuals but also their relationships and society as a whole.
