Susan Driscoll, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Susan! My name is Susan Driscoll (but you can call me Susie). I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working in Menlo Park and virtually. I earned my Master's in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University. My approach I believe that everyone has innate strengths, so my work focuses on identifying and building on those strengths. I often use cognitive behavioral therapy and a solution-focused approach to instill hope and support clients with problem-solving. My focus My passion is in supporting the LGBTQ+ community, particularly gender-expansive folks, around concerns with coming out, identity formation, or everyday challenges. My background working with college students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Gunn High School gave me skills for managing perfectionism and decreasing burnout in youth and adults. My communication style My clients would likely describe me as warm and gentle. I want my clients to feel empowered but also supported if they feel overwhelmed in a new situation or want to learn new skills. My journey to mental healthcare I always wanted to help people but did not know exactly how to at first. However, after seeing people I cared about struggle with their mental health, I felt pulled into the therapy profession. I realized how powerful and moving it can be to be 100% present with someone. My goals for you I believe goal-setting should always be a collaborative experience between the therapist and client. Let's take what feels important to you and identify concrete steps toward achieving your goals. My first session with you During an initial session, I ask questions and listen closely to get a sense of what support clients are looking for. I work to create a welcoming space so clients feel safe being their authentic selves with me.
