Susan Foley, LICSW

Psychotherapist
MA
My name is Sue Foley, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) based in Mashpee, Massachusetts, working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Boston College. I work with adults, seniors, and couples, specializing in addiction, alcoholism, depression, anxiety, stress, marriage, communication, and grief issues. I primarily use Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy to help my clients make progress and start feeling better. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on each client's needs. I most frequently use Internal Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality and allow us to work together to create a path forward. My focus I have found that my style and approach fit well with adults, couples, and seniors who face the challenges of life transitions and the related pressures, as well as those struggling with past issues that continue to burden them. These challenges often present as anxiety, depression, stress, and alcoholism/addictions. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and heal from past burdens, building skills that allow them to feel better about themselves, heal, move forward, and develop a more positive outlook on life. My communication style My communication style is calm, personable, open, and interactive. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen and create a safe, non-judgmental space during each session. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to become a therapist because I have always been drawn to helping people. From as far back as I can remember, I've taken on a helping role-whether as a trusted family member, loyal friend, or professional confidant. My interest and love for this work grew from there.
