Susan Yuen, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Susan! I have been passionate about helping those suffering from life's challenges for over 20 years. I have worked in a psychiatric hospital for teens who endured severe abuse, an Intensive Outpatient facility for individuals facing cPTSD, suicidality, and substance abuse, a non-profit supporting children and families affected by domestic violence, and have maintained a private practice for over 12 years. I am dedicated to being your safe and approachable guide through your healing journey so you can heal from your past and live the fulfilling life you are meant to live. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). My approach I view therapy as a collaborative effort where I create a safe, non-shaming space to address addictions, disordered eating, and mood disorders. I utilize EMDR, IFS, and compassion-focused therapy to help clients achieve their goals. My focus I prefer working with adults (18+) from all backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, races, sexual orientations, and religions. I especially welcome clients motivated and open to various therapeutic interventions. My communication style I take a calm, relaxed approach, offering compassionate, non-judgmental, non-shaming responses. I usually speak with a moderate tone and enjoy using humor and empathy when appropriate. My journey to therapy My interest in helping others began as a child when I joined my father aiding residents in subsidized housing. From that point, I considered how to improve others' lives. Later, I obtained the training to become a mental health therapist (LMFT), as I saw it as the best way to fulfill my mission to be an agent of change.
