“I cannot express enough how grateful I am for Susana's kind and understanding nature. As someone who tends to be my own worst critic, finding a therapist who not only listens but truly comprehends the intricacies of self-doubt has been a game-changer. She fosters an environment where I feel comfortable exploring my thoughts and emotions without fear of condemnation. Her gentle approach encourages open dialogue, making each session a valuable opportunity for self-reflection and growth. Susana's cultural sensitivity and awareness add an extra layer of comfort to our sessions. She not only acknowledges but also embraces the first-generation experience, creating a therapeutic alliance that feels authentic and relatable. This, coupled with her genuine kindness, has made the therapeutic journey a positive and transformative experience. Being a first-generation individual comes with its own unique set of challenges, and having a therapist who understands the nuances of these struggles is invaluable. The ability to express myself in Spanish and English allows for a deeper connection, enabling me to convey my experiences more accurately and comprehensively. I wholeheartedly recommend Susana to anyone seeking a therapist who is not only professionally adept but also genuinely compassionate. Her ability to navigate the intricacies of self-criticism, coupled with her bilingual proficiency and cultural awareness, sets her apart as a truly outstanding therapist.”

Getting to know Susana Ochoa-Valle

Hi! I'm a bilingual (English/Spanish) Latina Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the University of California, Los Angeles. I come into the therapeutic relationship with curiosity and compassion to support my clients in improving their well-being by reconnecting to themselves. I have over 10 years of experience working with individuals of all ages from diverse backgrounds-primarily focused on the Latinx community. I've worked with individuals affected by trauma, childhood and attachment trauma, racism, oppression, discrimination, first- and second-generation immigrant issues, stress, educational/career/employment challenges, life transitions, and parenting and relationship concerns. My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered. I strive to create a sacred space for my clients during their healing process and believe that all individuals have within them the ability to reconnect to their strengths, recover, and heal. I value social and racial justice and consider culture, environment, family background, and intergenerational patterns and trauma when working with my clients. I work to create a safe and welcoming space to support clients in meeting their goals so they can move from surviving to thriving. I integrate a variety of techniques, including mindfulness and body-based practices, to help clients shift unwanted patterns, reconnect to their spirits and bodies, and develop self-acceptance and self-compassion.
