Getting to know Sylvia Kim

I believe healing happens when you feel safe enough to tell your story and understand it in a new way. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and my approach is rooted in narrative therapy while integrating CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy based on your needs. I work with teens and adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, eating disorders, family transitions, and cultural or identity-related concerns. I am especially passionate about supporting minority, immigrant, and first-generation clients. I am supervised by Parthi B. Patel, M.A., LPC Supervisor #78799

What should a new client know about working with you?

The most important part of therapy is the relationship we build together. I focus on creating a space rooted in trust, collaboration, and authenticity rather than rigid treatment plans. Clients often describe me as warm, relatable, and thoughtful. My goal is to help you build insight, agency, and emotional resilience—so that therapy becomes a tool you no longer need forever.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I help clients explore their thoughts, emotions, and lived experiences through narrative therapy—identifying strengths, processing difficult emotions, and challenging stories that no longer serve them. Together, we work toward more compassionate and flexible perceptions of self and life, while gently confronting the parts of yourself that may feel uncomfortable or avoided.
