Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Sylvie! My name is Sylvie Fermanian. I began my journey to become a psychotherapist in 2010 and graduated from Argosy University, Orange, in 2012 with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. I use an individualized approach with each of my clients, involving an eclectic form of treatment. Some of the primary modalities I incorporate include CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused, and Narrative Therapy. I will meet you where you are so you can go at your own pace in opening up and sharing personal details of your life. Together, we will develop goals, and as therapy progresses, I will introduce coping skills and interventions to help you reach those goals. My approach I begin psychotherapy with a blank slate for each client, gradually filling in the pieces of their lives that brought them to me. I then use a variety of modalities—particularly Client-Centered, CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused, Narrative, and Eclectic Therapies—to work collaboratively toward their goals. My focus I would love to work with clients who are eager to begin therapy, whether it is their first time or their tenth. Clients need to be open, receptive, and willing to put in the effort to make meaningful changes in their lives. My communication style Therapy should be a place where clients feel safe to open up. Creating that safe space involves displaying a calm and grounded demeanor while allowing clients to go at their own pace to develop rapport. I guide clients during the beginning of therapy, and as therapy progresses, I empower them to take the lead so they can model that behavior outside of sessions. My journey to therapy Growing up shy, I tended to observe more than engage. As I listened and observed, friends began coming to me for support and feedback. I realized I enjoyed this role and was good at it. Wanting to make a difference in people’s lives, I chose the path of counseling and therapy.
