Getting to know Tabitha Taylor
Hi there, I'm Tabitha!
I have over twelve years of counseling experience with individuals, couples, families, and facilitating process groups. I earned my PsyD in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Chicago School, an MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, and a BA in Psychology. I love having the opportunity to assist people in learning how to affirm themselves with self-acceptance, value, and worth. I help clients take control of their lives by releasing embarrassment, shame, and guilt caused by toxic, chaotic, and traumatic environments.
My approach
My practice includes TF-CBT, CBT, Mindfulness, Attachment, and psychodynamic therapeutic approaches. Clients learn healthy coping skills such as mindfulness, breathing techniques, emotional journaling, challenging distorted thoughts, repairing insecure parental attachments, and addressing core beliefs.
My focus
I specialize in working with women of color, specifically African American women, addressing church hurt and supporting the journey toward acquiring a healthy sense of self. I assist individuals facing depression, anxiety, and trauma. As a therapist, I am committed to helping individuals become their best selves by providing space for grace, self-love, value, and worth. I work with individuals, couples, and families to manage life’s struggles.
My communication style
I am dedicated to creating a safe space for disclosure and transparency through active listening, reflection, affirming and attuning statements that mirror clients’ feelings. I maintain a non-judgmental presence and empathic listening to foster trust and openness.
My goals for you
I encourage my clients to set their own goals for the changes they want to achieve. I offer guidance and support on how to accomplish those goals, empowering clients to take charge of their growth and healing.

I chose Dr. Tabitha because I felt she could understand some of my experiences as a Black woman and would be easy to talk to. She was kind and personable, but her approach was not the best fit for me. I was looking for more guidance and felt she often shared her own experiences instead of asking more questions about mine. I value a relatable therapist, but I would have preferred more focus on understanding my life and goals for therapy.
