Getting to know Tamekia Flanngan

Hello, my name is Tamekia Flanngan, also known as Mika. I am an LCSW with a diverse background working with adults, seniors, the disabled, families, teens, and children for many years. I believe there is always hope, and each patient has the innate ability to create their own narrative. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment to find reasonable solutions to overwhelming and everyday challenges. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California Baptist University, equipping me with the knowledge and skills to serve my clients effectively. My approach I offer Solution Focus Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Grounding techniques, and other evidence-based practices. My goal is to support future possibilities for those seeking help with their mental health needs. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (Certification Number: 83426). My focus I help individuals with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, stress-related problems, end-of-life issues, chronic medical conditions (e.g., cancer), and grief and loss by providing various client-centered modalities. My communication style I am open, transparent, and patient to the needs of all my clients. My journey to mental healthcare My journey began with my grandmother. As her caregiver, I saw how she suffered from dementia and was often disregarded due to her condition. This inspired me to become a social worker to help others. I interned with individuals suffering from chronic mental health conditions, such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. This experience solidified my desire to help clients see their true potential and strengths. My goals for you I collaboratively set goals with clients to address their needs. Together, we discuss challenges, emotions, behaviors, situations, and events affecting your life. Over time, we track and monitor your progress to determine what is best for you.
