Psychotherapist
GA
Hi there, I'm Tashai! My name is Tashai Gilman-Brown, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. My therapeutic approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy to support individuals and couples dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use/abuse. My approach I tailor my therapy to meet each client's unique needs. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I help clients identify and change negative thoughts and behaviors by replacing them with positive, healthy alternatives. For clients who know what they want but need guidance to get there, I use a Person-Centered approach. In this role, I offer compassion, nonjudgmental listening, encouragement, and support while honoring your experience. Ultimately, you are in control of your own destiny. My focus I specialize in working with individuals and couples facing challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use/abuse. My communication style I believe clients are the experts of their own lives. To help clients achieve their goals, I practice active listening by being fully present and communicating clearly and concisely. My journey to mental healthcare I like to think I was born into a family of helpers-about 90% of my relatives work in healthcare or education. From a young age, I naturally became the voice of reason and a listening ear. People, from classmates to adults, often opened up to me, recognizing my ability to listen with compassion and maintain a judgment-free space. While my family thought nursing would be a perfect fit, I felt drawn elsewhere. During my undergraduate studies, I explored social work, which eventually led me to pursue counseling as my true calling.
