Getting to know Tenisha Hunter

I have a passion for understanding, improving, and delivering quality mental health care over my lifespan and professionally for over 10 years. I hold a strong interest in helping individuals and groups-specifically college-age, adult, and geriatric populations-increase their ability to decrease depressive symptoms, manage anxiety, and navigate innumerable types of life transitions. I have worked in several hospitals across different cities and states at varying levels of care for mood, substance, and personality disorders, including IOP, PHP, inpatient mental health, dementia, substance abuse, and residential settings. I have a specific interest in increasing mental health education while practicing cultural humility with African American clients but remain open to working with people from all walks of life. Since the pandemic, I have also expanded my focus to helping adolescents navigate the post-pandemic world. I earned my Master's in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.
