Getting to know Teresa Nguyen

The provider is supervised by Parthi Patel. Tired of therapists who don't get it? As a Southeast Asian therapist, I specialize in the stuff other people don't understand—cultural guilt, family expectations that feel impossible, and living between two worlds. I work with BIPOC teens and young adults (including neurodivergent folks) who are done pretending to be who everyone else wants them to be. Using CBT, DBT, ACT, and person-centered therapy, I help you figure out who YOU actually are and build a life that feels authentic—not perfect, just real.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I won't make you explain why disappointing your parents feels devastating or why you can't "just set boundaries." I already know. You won't need to translate cultural context or downplay your neurodivergent experience here—this is a space where all of you makes sense. Here's what therapy with me looks like: We move at YOUR pace. Some days we're processing heavy family stuff. Other days we're building practical skills to manage anxiety or set boundaries without the guilt spiraling. I'm direct when you need honesty, gentle when you need space, and I'll call out patterns that aren't serving you. No fake positivity, no one-size-fits-all advice. Just real conversations that help you live more authentically. If you're ready to stop living for everyone else's expectations, let's talk.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First session: We talk about what's actually going on—not the "fine" version you tell everyone else. I want to know what brought you here, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping changes. I'll ask about your cultural background and neurodivergent experiences because that context matters. Then we build a plan together based on what YOU need, not some textbook template. Maybe that's learning to regulate emotions without numbing out. Maybe it's figuring out how to set boundaries without feeling like a terrible person. Maybe it's exploring who you are when you're not performing for others. I use whatever works—CBT for changing thought patterns, DBT for managing intense emotions, ACT for living by your values. We adjust as we go based on what's actually helping.

Teresa has been absolutely incredible. Her support, kindness, and guidance have made such a positive difference in my life. She truly listens, understands, and helps me see things with clarity and confidence. Every session leaves me feeling stronger, more hopeful, and more empowered. I’m so grateful for the care and compassion she shows—truly one of the best therapists I’ve ever had
I’ve had such a positive experience working with Teresa. From the very beginning, she made me feel comfortable opening up and really took the time to listen to what I was going through. She’s an excellent listener and always makes sure she fully understands my perspective before offering feedback. What I appreciate most is how collaborative she is. It never feels like she’s just telling me what to do. instead, we work together to explore what’s going on and find strategies that actually fit me and my life. I leave our sessions feeling heard, supported, and a little more confident in handling my challenges. I highly recommend Teresa to anyone looking for a therapist who is kind, thoughtful, and truly invested in helping you grow.

I left with more clarity, tools I can actually use, and a sense of relief I’ve been missing for a long time. I’m really grateful for the care and compassion I received.

Working with her has made a meaningful difference, and I’m grateful for her guidance and care.
Teresa was very welcoming and provided a professional yet warm atmosphere that was unique. She asked great questions that helped lead me on my journey of self inquiry. She was also very empathetic and showed me a variety of coping skills tailored specifically to my needs. I will definitely be coming back to Teresa in the future
Teresa is amazing!! I was hesitant to begin therapy for the first time but after the first few sessions with Teresa, I feel so much lighter and less anxious about the events going on in my life. Highly recommend her if you are on the fence about starting therapy!
