UpLift Behavioral Health providers do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by any federal or state agency or other drugs that may be harmful because of their potential for abuse. UpLift Behavioral Health reserves the right to limit the types of medications that may be prescribed by its doctors and nurse practitioners. All prescriptions furnished by UpLift Behavioral Health care providers are issued in accordance with applicable federal and state law as well as UpLift Behavioral Health policy. Whether you are managing a mental health diagnosis, experiencing a difficult life transition, or struggling with unhelpful self-talk, it can take a toll. I believe all people inherently possess the capacity to make life-enriching, meaningful change. Sometimes, we just need extra support to sort through all that life might throw at us in order to make those changes. Together, we will work to identify barriers, address challenges, and implement plans to make meaningful change: to start connecting, managing, and truly living. I work from a person-centered approach, by which you will feel heard, understood, and in control of your progress. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor’s degree from Millikin University, which inform my compassionate and holistic approach to care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe all people inherently possess the capacity to make life-enriching, meaningful change. Sometimes, we just need extra support to sort through all that life might throw at us in order to make those changes. I provide clients with a safe, understanding, and nonjudgmental environment. Together, we will work to identify barriers, address challenges, and implement plans to make meaningful changes and start connecting, managing, and truly living. This might mean work outside of sessions, such as journaling or practicing skills you've learned in session. I work from a person-centered approach, which allows you to feel heard, understood, and in control of your progress.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Typically, the first session is used to gather information about you: your background, experiences, concerns, challenges, and strengths. From there, we collaborate on creating a plan of treatment-- What do YOU want to focus on? What changes do YOU want to make? Depending upon your goals, we might focus on learning (for example, what IS anxiety and why might I be doing what I am doing?) We might also discuss and practice various strategies that you can use outside of session (that's where the real change happens!) We will also focus on your personal values and strengths- using those as foundations for your change.
