Hi there, I'm Tessa! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, trauma, stress, and life transitions, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based interventions to help my clients make progress and start feeling better and more capable. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on the needs and goals of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based interventions, these modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality,, are evidenced-based approaches, and allow us to work together to chart a path forward in your best interest. My focus I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for young adults and adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life, transitions, and social pressures. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, stress, and eating disorders. I also have extensive experience working with mood disorders and PTSD/trauma. I work to help my clients understand themselves, and their lived experiences, and learn to more effectively navigate life and transition periods as well as to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves, feel more confident and capable, and develop a more positive outlook on life. My communication style My communication style is calm, genuine, and direct. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help people and inspire others to thrive. Whether it was as a peer counselor in school, volunteering in my community, or being a trusted and loyal friend, I have always naturally been drawn to helping people through difficult times.
