Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, I'm Thea! Hello. My name is Thea Cristwell-Butler, and I am a licensed professional counselor. I am committed to the empowerment and healing of individuals, couples, and families. I gently help clients explore the root cause of their symptoms, identify negative emotional and relationship patterns, and utilize practical strategies to help clients reach their mental health goals. My approach My three main approaches to providing therapy include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. These evidence-based approaches focus on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected so that they can begin to make targeted changes, feel safe and heard, and reframe the narrative of their lives in a way that increases self-confidence and compassion. My focus I work with a range of clients, from 13-year-olds to adults. I typically work with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, anger issues, trauma, relationship issues, and work-related challenges. My communication style I create a caring and nonjudgmental environment where my clients feel they have a genuine friend and ally. Many clients report feeling comfortable working with me and that their self-confidence and self-love grew over time while working together. My journey to mental healthcare I was previously a special education teacher, and many of my students felt comfortable enough to share their problems with me. I often used my lunch breaks to listen and support students who just needed to talk and feel heard. This inspired me to go back to school and earn my Master?s degree in Professional Counseling from Webster University. I genuinely enjoy helping people, and it brings me great satisfaction to see individuals healed and whole?in mind, body, and spirit. My goals for you I believe that people are experts in their own lives; therefore, I facilitate my clients taking the lead in creating goals for themselves.
