Theresa Maul, LCSW

Psychotherapist
FL
Hi there, I'm Theresa! My name is Theresa Maul, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from Widener University. My focus areas have included anxiety, dysphoria/depression, trauma, and relationship issues. My approach My approach to therapy tends to be strengths-based and client-centered. My theoretical approach most often draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), an early form of CBT. Utilizing these theories, I focus on self-acceptance, combating irrational beliefs, reframing negative thoughts, and exploring the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My focus I have worked with clients across settings and ages ranging from 2 through 70+, but I prefer working with older teenagers and adults. I have extensive experience supporting clients with LGBT+ identities, histories of domestic violence, and work or relationship issues. I am also experienced in working with individuals diagnosed with anxiety, bipolar-related, depressive, trauma, and stressor-related disorders. My communication style I strive to create a calm, warm, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel respected, heard, and valued. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to pursue this career in college because I wanted to help people improve their lives and relationships. Now, after more than 25 years in this field, I can't imagine doing anything else. My goals for you I believe in a client-centered approach to goal-setting, working with clients to identify and set goals that are meaningful and relevant to their needs and wants.
