Hi there, I'm Thomas! My name is Tom and I'm here to support and empower you to lead the best, most healthy life that you can, by drawing upon my decade of experience as an LMHC and inspired by a desire to limit or reduce your suffering in any way I can. I seek to be an ally who can support and guide. I envision a co-operative effort where we work together to achieve what you're looking for. My approach Person Centered, with a CBT focus - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - to challenge negative thought patterns. I'm also a proponent of Mindfulness based practices, especially meditation, such as MBCT - Mindfulness Based CBT. I'm also very open to exploring existential issues. My focus I've worked mostly with individuals with anxiety and mood disorders (including depression and bipolar). I am also very comfortable with life stage transitions, like mid or quarter life crises, as well as dealing with grief and loss. My communication style I'm very open and non-judgmental. I promise it will be a supportive, encouraging space. I believe in being open, honest and direct. And the atmosphere I hope to create is one that feels comfortable and allows you to be yourself. If I offer critiques, they will always have a positive tone. My journey to mental healthcare I was moved by the loss of my cousin, who took her own life at 17, to want to help in a more direct way. No family should ever experience that. And as I studied religion in college and grad school, especially Buddhism, I saw that my role could be to help reduce suffering. It may not be possible to eliminate it altogether, but if there's any way in which I can improve a person's quality of life, I feel that is my calling. My goals for you I take the client's lead and support them in whatever directions they wish to pursue. Though I may suggest potential ideas or tweaks, you are in charge of what you want to accomplish. What matters to you, matters to me.
