Getting to know Thomas Merz

Are you hurting, feeling stuck, overwhelmed, scared, or lost? It can be hard to see sometimes, but you have what it takes to make powerful changes and create your own pathway to health and well-being. Whether it is anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment to change, relationship problems, or other issues, we can work toward resolution and a greater sense of peace. I have been a licensed counselor for more than twenty years and have helped clients of all ages, backgrounds, and circumstances. I have an eclectic and nonjudgmental approach, and my goal is to unconditionally support you throughout this process. You are not here by mistake. There is no better time to begin taking steps to improve your life situation. I earned my Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Georgia and hold a Bachelor's degree from Georgia State University. I am licensed in Georgia and Florida, and my counseling practice is entirely online (video and phone). My hours are Monday through Friday, with first appointments starting at 9 AM and last appointments at 5 PM. I use the first session to get to know you better, and from there we can address your issues together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first session focuses on the intake and gaining an understanding of the issues that have brought you to counseling. Subsequent sessions involve discussion and processing, as well as the use of occasional brief inventories and resources. I believe therapy is a collaborative effort and an effective way of gaining insights and making meaningful life changes.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
