Hello, I’m Tony Byrd. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with more than 27 years of experience. I hold a Master’s in Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. I am passionate about providing the best services possible as I walk through the recovery journey with each client I serve. My approach to treatment is multifaceted, dedicating ample time to address all issues promptly with empathy and unconditional positive regard. I also employ a range of therapeutic techniques that help clients navigate their journey as safely and effectively as possible.
My therapy approach includes various models and techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral, Psychoanalytic/Dynamic, Dialectical Behavioral, Existential, Reality, and Recreational Therapies. This blend fosters a shared understanding of goals and objectives while offering clients the insight and education needed to complete their journey in a timely and effective manner.
Over the years, I have worked with diverse populations facing many challenges across different cultures and social settings. These challenges may include depression, anxiety, trauma, gender issues, and eating disorders. I strive to provide services for both adults and adolescents as they work to establish the best possible life for themselves.
My communication style adapts to each client and their unique situation in every session. I encourage clients to express their needs during each contact, providing a therapeutic relationship free of judgment and tailored to their requirements. I believe there is a time to listen deeply and a time to educate and guide clients on their therapeutic journey. My own journey is an ongoing decision-making process shaped by years of experience, leading me to where I am today.
