Hi there, I'm Toppacio!
Hello, my name is Toppacio Rodriguez, but you can call me Topy. My pronouns are she/her (ella/ellas). As a therapist, I follow your lead and provide suggestions on available options. I believe limited expectations only provide limited opportunities. I collaborate with you to identify challenges, brainstorm, and support you in finding what works best.
My approach
I use attachment-based and trauma-focused lenses in my work. I provide psychoeducation about the brain, attachment, exposure to adversities, and your experiences to collaboratively develop a treatment plan.
My focus
I have learned from various groups and populations. I gained experience in Family Preservation, assisting families through reunification. I have supported families and individuals affected by sexual assault. I provide parenting support to caregivers while assisting children in the probation system with autism, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, and other mental health concerns. I work with families systemically to help them move forward.
My communication style
My goal in therapy is to provide a safe space for processing and increasing self-awareness. Through consistency and predictability, I work alongside you to create a space to open up.
My journey to therapy
My journey to becoming a therapist has been wild. I grew up with Salvadoran immigrant parents with different parenting styles. I learned that love alone wasn’t enough to heal their childhood pain. Curious to understand them, I grew up navigating two worlds. With my experiences, I see the pain in others and want to be a supportive space.
I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Northridge, which has deeply informed my approach and commitment to helping others.
