Getting to know Travis Knowlton

Hello, I am Travis Knowlton, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. My approach to therapy is strength-based, and my goal is to help you become your own mental warrior! My approach involves looking at life and therapy through an existential lens. Getting to the root cause of our troubles can release us from traumas, triggers, and frustrations. I also implement somatic psychotherapy, which recognizes the body's ability to manage and process stress. The combination of these approaches fosters a liberating awareness of self and life. My focus is on clients starting at age 12, including families, couples, and individuals facing daily stressors, toxic stress, and trauma. My communication style is collaborative-I will be with you every step of the way, practicing coping skills and working through relationship and communication struggles. Challenges will be tailored to you and your life, all within a safe and encouraging environment. My journey to mental healthcare began when I was a young, troubled kid. Though I didn't want to go to therapy, I was fascinated by how my therapist got me to open up and talk about all kinds of things. Later, I enlisted in the Navy and deployed to Afghanistan, where my first child was born. Returning to civilian life was difficult, but it reignited my joy and love for therapy. My goals for you are set through an interdependent process, completed together and tailored to your specific needs. During our first session, I will share my approach, style, and background so that openness, trust, and availability are built into our environment.
