Getting to know Trina Cornelison

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina with over 15 years of experience helping adults feel calmer, more grounded, and more connected to themselves. My practice is rooted in a holistic, mind-body approach that recognizes the deep connection between emotional and physical well-being. I specialize in supporting adults navigating stress, anxiety, grief, burnout, and major life transitions. My background as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Registered Yoga Teacher allows me to blend evidence-based therapy with nervous system awareness, mindfulness, and self-compassion practices. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic methods informed by Polyvagal theory. Whether you’re seeking balance in daily life, healing from emotional overwhelm, or simply wanting to reconnect with yourself, I provide a safe and supportive space where meaningful change can unfold naturally.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often describe my style as warm, grounded, and empowering. I take time to understand your story and help you identify what’s working, what’s not, and where you’d like to grow. My sessions are collaborative—focused on building insight and teaching tools you can use between sessions to support calm, clarity, and self-trust. I believe therapy works best when you feel truly seen and understood. Together, we’ll explore how stress and emotion show up in your body, and use that awareness to guide practical, gentle shifts toward balance. My goal is to help you reconnect with your body’s wisdom, deepen self-compassion, and create sustainable change that feels authentic to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy and begin identifying your priorities and goals. I’ll also share a bit about how the mind and body interact—especially through the lens of the nervous system—so you can better understand your patterns and responses. Each session is personalized, but may include grounding techniques, cognitive strategies, somatic awareness, and guided reflection. As therapy progresses, we’ll work together to strengthen emotional regulation, reduce self-criticism, and create daily practices that support resilience and well-being. My approach is structured enough to provide guidance, but flexible enough to meet you exactly where you are.
