Psychotherapist
418 77th St, Brooklyn, NY
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) who works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, low self-esteem, and difficulty managing emotions. I understand that starting therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially when you’re not sure where to begin. You don’t have to come in with the right words or have everything figured out. My goal is to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly about what’s going on and feel supported while we work through it together. I use an individualized approach that may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, person-centered therapy, and Brainspotting. We may work on understanding patterns, processing difficult experiences, improving relationships and boundaries, building coping skills, or finding healthier ways to manage anxiety, stress, and overwhelming emotions. Therapy looks different for everyone, so I focus on getting to know you and what you need rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Getting to know Tuba Habib

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) who works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, low self-esteem, and difficulty managing emotions. I understand that starting therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially when you’re not sure where to begin. You don’t have to come in with the right words or have everything figured out. My goal is to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly about what’s going on and feel supported while we work through it together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy style is warm, conversational, supportive, and direct when needed. I want you to feel comfortable being yourself in session, even when what you’re bringing in feels messy, complicated, or difficult to talk about. I’m also an active therapist. I won’t just sit back, listen, and leave you wondering what to do next. I’ll ask questions, help you make connections, point out patterns, offer feedback, and teach practical coping skills when they may be helpful. Some sessions may focus on anxiety, stress, relationships, boundaries, or something that happened that week. Other sessions may involve deeper work around trauma, past experiences, family dynamics, self-esteem, or patterns that keep showing up in your life. You set the pace, and we work together to figure out what will be most helpful for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is really about getting to know you. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been going on recently, what you’ve tried before, and what you would like to be different. From there, we’ll identify goals together and start figuring out what approach makes the most sense for you. Depending on your needs, sessions may include processing emotions and difficult experiences, identifying unhelpful thought or behavior patterns, learning coping and emotional regulation skills, improving communication and boundaries, or working through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I also believe therapy should connect to your life outside of our sessions. We’ll regularly check in on what’s working, what isn’t, and what you’re noticing between sessions. As your needs and goals change, our work can change too. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We can start with where you are and go from there.
