With the current state of the world, it is hard to gain a footing to make new strides or to change your current situation. I know "Life be life-ing", and it is hard to think of anything else. When was the last time you did something to help yourself or take some time to give yourself the time to release all of your stress? Let's get you back on track to putting your mental health first ... to putting yourself first. My approach I take a very creative approach to therapy and have no problems researching new ways to help a specific problem. I use a solution-focused, person-centered, narrative, and existential approach to therapy. I am also a first-generation American (Trinidadian), so a multicultural approach is typically used when approaching certain issues. I am very eclectic in my approach as well and will work on tailoring the experience to every client I meet. My focus I know adjusting to a new reality can be hard and exhausting; my main goal is for the client to feel like their ideal self. Once you feel like you're in a great space, it's all about learning how to keep it up. I excel in working with teens (13-18), College-aged adults (19-22), and adults (23+) for managing Anxiety, Depression, and those adjusting to life changes (ex., high school, college, newfound adulthood, finding yourself after the loss of a relationship, etc.). My communication style I love to make my sessions feel like a safe space to say whatever comes to mind; no judgment. You can expect to be excited to meet the following week to explain more of your lore/backstory. I want you to feel safe and heard after leaving a session and ready to take on the week ahead of you. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to become a provider started with dealing with my own depression and anxiety. I tried to rely on an older generation that didn't really believe in mental health.
