Getting to know Ulysees Cantero

Hi, I'm Ulysees, or simply "UC"! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Master's in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix, working with clients via telehealth. I specialize in anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, to name a few. I tend to be solution-focused and utilize a combination of approaches to work with you while trying to resolve various situations. Life experiences and my desire to help others are primary factors behind becoming a therapist. I am also registered with the CA Board of Behavioral Science (BBS). My approach My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I will meet you where you are without judgment or bias, hoping to provide a comfortable and safe space as we work together toward potential solutions. My focus I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for pre-teens, teens, and adults who may be dealing with life challenges and social pressures. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, and stress. I work to help my clients navigate these challenges and build necessary skills to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life. My communication style My communication style is calm, non-judgmental, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. My first session with you Our first session together is for us to spend the majority of the time talking about how you've been feeling recently, with me asking questions to gain a better understanding of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about starting to build rapport and an initial connection, helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.

He is a great listener. He Helps you through his own life experiences. Always on time and makes it easy to feel connected.
I look at things differently after learning the tools and techniques I’ve been taught. Being part of the LGBT community, it has been great to have someone to talk to that I feel fully comfortable with.

Working with Ulysees has been life-changing. He made me feel comfortable from the start and always remembered where we left off because of his detailed notes. He helped me work through years of anxiety and depression with patience, compassion, and genuine care. After struggling for four years, my mindset changed in just a few months. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone who truly listens, cares, and helps you grow..
He’s been a lifesaver. He’s helped me get through everything, from the good times to the tough ones. As someone who didn’t think I needed therapy and actually believed it, I don’t know how I would’ve handled everything without UC’s support.
I've had a really positive experience working with my therapist. One thing I appreciate most is how personable he is. He always takes the time to ask how my week has been before getting into the session, which helps me feel comfortable and makes our conversations feel genuine rather than rushed. He creates a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where I feel heard and supported. I leave each session feeling like I've gained valuable insight and practical tools to move forward.
He is a very caring provider. He takes time to understand the situation before choosing any method to try to help you. He has been very good at explaining everything and answering questions. You can tell he really enjoys and believes in what he is doing. Every session I leave feeling better than before and with new information I can use in my daily life.
