Psychotherapist
MD
Hi there, I'm Valerie! I'm passionate about helping teens and young adults work through the struggles that can hold them back during one of life's most important stages. With decades of experience focused solely on this age group, I offer compassionate guidance that empowers young people to overcome obstacles, discover strengths, and move forward with a fulfilling life. My focus Adolescence and young adulthood bring exciting opportunities, but they can also feel overwhelming. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. Together, we'll build on your strengths, identify what's getting in the way of the life you want, and develop tools to help you manage challenges with confidence My approach My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. I partner with clients to build on their existing strengths while using cognitive behavioral therapy tools to develop practical coping skills, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and create meaningful, lasting change. Together, we'll work toward helping you overcome obstacles. My communication style I believe meaningful therapy begins with open, honest communication and a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and understood. I listen with empathy, encourage thoughtful reflection, and work alongside you as a supportive partner. Challenges can be expected and you can count on me to be patient, calm, and committed to change. My journey to mental healthcare For more than 30 years, I've worked with teens and young adults as a school counselor, supporting them through academic, emotional, and personal challenges. I was drawn to providing therapy because it allows for deeper, ongoing work—not just helping in moments of crisis, but partnering with clients to create meaningful, lasting change.
