Vanessa Brister, LCSW

Vanessa Brister, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I am an LCSW with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California, who has focused her therapeutic practice on supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am here to help those navigating the complexities they face daily. My experience spans serving clients from children to senior citizens, with telehealth services best suited for adolescents through mid-aged adults. I have worked with a variety of issues, including parenting, adolescence, foster care, adoption, infertility, incarceration, domestic violence, divorce, infidelity, family conflict, grief, and loss. Additionally, I support individuals in vital roles such as law enforcement, the medical field, and social services. Having worked alongside clients for over ten years, I understand the vicarious impact trauma can have on mental health. My approach is trauma-informed and client-centered. I focus on meeting each client where they are in processing thoughts and understanding emotions, while helping them learn to cope effectively. Some of my specialties and modalities include Evidence-Based Nurturing Practices, CBT, DBT, IFS, Mindfulness, and Narrative therapy. The ideal client is someone willing to engage actively in their treatment alongside their clinician. It is important that clients seek help and are open to incorporating the tools learned in each session. In communication, I prioritize meeting clients where they are emotionally and cognitively. I also establish clear boundaries for communication at the start of treatment. My ultimate goal for all clients is for them to feel heard and validated. While I cannot promise to eliminate symptoms entirely, I aim to help clients learn and adopt tools that reduce symptom intensity and nurture their future selves.
