Getting to know Vanessa Hernandez

I’m Vanessa Hernandez, LCSW, CADC, CCPT, SEP, and I provide compassionate, trauma-informed therapy for individuals and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and difficult life experiences. I believe healing involves both the mind and body. I use evidence-based and somatic approaches, including EMDR and Somatic Experiencing, to help clients process past experiences, better understand their emotional responses, and develop greater resilience and connection. I provide therapy in both English and Spanish and offer a holistic, faith-informed approach for clients who wish to incorporate their faith into the therapeutic process. My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Whether you’re working through trauma, struggling with anxiety, experiencing relationship difficulties, or wanting to improve communication and reconnect with yourself or your partner, I’ll meet you where you are and work alongside you toward greater emotional well-being and lasting change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I want you to feel safe, heard, and respected while we work together at a pace that feels right for you. I take a trauma-informed, holistic approach, recognizing that our experiences can affect both the mind and body. I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as EMDR and Somatic Experiencing to help you better understand your emotions, patterns, and responses while developing practical tools for healing and growth. For couples, I focus on strengthening communication, understanding recurring patterns, rebuilding connection, and creating healthier relationships. I provide therapy in both English and Spanish and can incorporate a faith-informed perspective when it is meaningful to you. You can expect our sessions to be supportive but purposeful—we will work together toward your goals while honoring your individual experiences, values, and strengths.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions are focused on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying the goals you would like to work toward. We’ll talk about your current concerns, relevant life experiences, relationships, and the patterns that may be affecting your well-being. From there, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan together. Sessions may include talk therapy, learning practical coping and communication skills, exploring emotional and relationship patterns, and incorporating approaches such as EMDR or Somatic Experiencing when appropriate. I believe therapy should move at a pace that feels safe and manageable. I will never rush you into discussing or processing experiences before you are ready. Throughout our work, we’ll regularly check in on your progress, adjust our approach as needed, and focus on helping you build the tools, insight, and resilience needed to create meaningful and lasting change.
