Vernon Palmer, LPC

Psychotherapist
TN
My name is Vernon "Terry" Palmer, and I am dedicated to helping individuals overcome challenges like addictions, destructive habits, distorted thinking, trauma, and family or marital struggles. I specialize in connecting clients with resources and building support networks to achieve their goals and dreams. Passionate about unlocking inner strength, talents, and motivation, I strive to inspire personal and professional growth for men, adolescents, and people of all ages, guiding them toward success and positive change. My approach In my therapy sessions, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy (BSFT). But at the core, I’m a person-centered therapist. You’re the expert on your life. I’m here to walk alongside you, help you uncover what’s holding you back, and work toward something better. My focus Maybe you know exactly what’s going on—addiction, alcohol, or porn, broken relationships, impulsive choices, a sense that life just hasn’t gone the way you hoped. Or maybe you don’t have a clear name for it. You just know you’re angry. Worn out. Unhappy with yourself, with life, maybe even with God. If that’s you—I get it. I’ve cycled through a lot of it myself. I come from a background of childhood abuse, had a disconnected father, and spent years carrying unresolved anger—at God, the church, and life in general. I work with men, male adolescents, and families who are ready to face what’s not working—and do something about it. I specialize in helping clients untangle patterns of addiction, compulsive behavior, distorted thinking, trauma, and relational pain. I also help men reconnect with their strengths, purpose, and faith—whether they’re struggling with it or trying to reclaim it. I’ve spent over 30 years working with men. For 20 of those, I was a pastor counseling families, couples, and individuals. For the last 10 years, I’ve worked as a licensed mental health and addictions counselor.
