Psychotherapist
GA
Hi there, I'm Vickie! Vickie J. Hagan, MA, LPC. I believe that everyone can reach an optimum state of health. Therapeutic interpersonal relationships are the primary component of all healthcare interactions that facilitate the development of positive clinician-patient experiences. My approach I employ an eclectic approach with a strong reliance on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) aspects in conjunction with humanistic strength-based counseling theories. My focus I work with a wide variety of populations addressing mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, codependency, chronic pain, coping skills, dual diagnosis, eating disorders, developmental disabilities, self-esteem, relationships, domestic violence, trauma and PTSD, divorce, sexual abuse, positive sexuality, obsessive-compulsive disorders, anger management, and positive parenting. My communication style My area of interest and expertise lies in the sphere of relationships; in particular, the relationship one has with oneself. I believe this relationship, formed early in life, impacts one's ability to be fully present and engaged in relationships with spouses, partners, children, friends, and colleagues. In a non-judgmental and compassionate environment, I strive to provide an atmosphere in which you can safely explore and work through feelings, thoughts, images, and beliefs-conscious or unconscious-that may be keeping you stuck in repetitive patterns. My journey to mental healthcare I chose mental health counseling as a helping profession to directly impact people's lives by assisting them in overcoming personal challenges, navigating difficult emotions, and improving overall well-being. I earned my Master's degree from National University and my Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. My goals for you In conjunction with your goals and the treatment approach, we set and revisit goals regularly to ensure progress is being made in addressing the aspects you wish to improve.
