“If you haven't seen Vickie yet, what are you doing? I have had my fair share of therapists throughout my life. However no one compares to Vickie. She is the most helpful, present, caring therapist I have ever had. Sessions with her feel like talking to family or a really really close friend. Her understanding of mental health and life in general make things so much easier to deal with and understand. There's no confusing medical terms or anything like that. She makes sure you feel comfortable, safe, and heard. Even when she's not "in office" she always makes sure that you have a way to communicate with her for crisis'. Her care for her clients shines through her sessions and our conversations. When people ask for a recommendation for a counselor/therapist, I can't pull up Vickie's number fast enough. There is no one that I'd recommend more than her! ?? ?? ??????”

Getting to know Victoria O'Shea

I have always said that every person, at some point in their life, needs therapy. Many think therapy is something you need because something is "wrong" with you... the truth is that sometimes we all need someone to listen and guide us through life's ups and downs. I have been fortunate enough to help others when they have needed it for over 20 years in the mental health and substance abuse field. As an outpatient counselor in substance abuse facilities, I worked with people who had a variety of mental health diagnoses and came from diverse backgrounds. However, due to several factors, our time together was somewhat limited, and my dream was to work with people throughout their entire journey. To pursue this goal, I earned my Master of Science in Education from City University of New York, Queens College, and took the necessary steps to begin private practice. Recognizing that many people couldn't attend therapy due to distance or other commitments, I decided to offer telehealth services, hoping to provide therapy that is both accessible and comfortable for others.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I want this journey to be comfortable and seem more like a conversation, than therapy. Together we will identify what approaches work best for you and which do not. I work to adjust my style or approach to match your needs. Sometimes, especially in the beginning, I will take notes. This is so I can ensure that I follow up on items that we need to circle back to and to ensure that I have a clear understanding of your needs. During our first session we will either review your intake form (if completed in advance) or we will complete it together. The intake form is designed to give me a full picture of you and your life, because it's often the things we don't think of that give us hints to what we need to work on.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As mentioned, our first session will comprise of reviewing your intake form or working on it together. You may also ask me any questions you have about therapy or the process and approaches. Most clients have previously been diagnosed, however we can work on that together as well.

I just started seeing Vickie. I like her vibe and think we are going to make progress on the various issues I need to manage. Vickie is kind and professional, and a great listener and communicator. She is easy to relate to, which I think indicates that she has a lot of life experience. Vickie and I are still early in our relationship, but she made an excellent first impression and that is always important. I'm looking forward to talking to her every week.

I was able to get an appointment within 7 days, and the video call was way more relaxed than an office visit. If you’re waiting because you think it will be awkward, don’t wait any longer! Vicky was personable and made me feel as ease from the first minutes of the call. Looking forward to subsequent visits and healing.

Vickie is very personable and caring. She immediately made me feel at ease and comfortable talking with her. She is experienced, very knowledgeable, and well worth every minute I spend talking with her.
The toughest task is leaving the best review to the one of the most amazing therapists that I have ever encountered…. Vickie has been more than a tremendous help in my marriage from the beginning and without her guidance and understanding, I don’t think anyone would have been able to connect and understand both me and my husband as individuals and even more so a unit. Words can’t describe the gratitude I have for her and how quickly I would recommend her to continue doing what she does best and that is helping us understand ourselves, our partners and how we can truly live a life worth living.
Vickie is incredibly personable and creates a natural environment for honesty, reflection, and safety. We have been working together for more than a year now, and she has helped me through the absolute toughest moments of my life. If you have the opportunity to meet with her, take it!!
Seeking counseling from Vickie O’Shea was one of the most fortunate decisions of my life. I was dealing with immense childhood trauma when I met Vickie. I did not know it at the time, perhaps I was in denial. Vickie was quick to diagnose the issue, and then proceeded to provide a succession of solutions to start the healing journey. I felt relief almost immediately, and other had noticed changes in me. I was happy again. Turns out, unsurprisingly, Vickie has profound insight, experience and expertise on helping trauma survivors. I was so grateful to Vickie for her help, that I felt compelled to introduce an immediate family member to seek her help. And their life has been noticeably transformed as well. .
