Psychotherapist
3840 York St, Ste 207, Denver, CO
You go quiet when you’re struggling, and resurface once you’ve figured it out. You’re dependable, accomplished, the one everyone else turns to. And somewhere along the way, holding it all together started costing more than it used to. I’m Tori Brothers, LPC, NCC, and a Certified Grief Educator. I specialize in anxiety, relationships, and grief, and I work with high-achieving women, adults, and couples. Many of the people I work with are ambitious cycle-breakers and first-gen professionals, which is part of my story too. My own therapy showed me that the patterns we inherit can change, and that asking for help takes real courage. I’ve been practicing since 2021, starting in higher levels of care and outpatient settings before opening my private practice in Denver. Couples come to me when the same arguments keep repeating, or when trust and communication feel worn down, and they want to rebuild even if those patterns feel deeply set. I see clients virtually across Colorado and Tennessee and in person at my office in Denver.

Getting to know Victoria (Tori) Brothers

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’ll be warm, and I’ll also be honest with you. I’m not the kind of therapist who nods along for 50 minutes. If I notice a pattern, I’ll name it, gently and directly, because therapy works best as a real partnership. My approach is rooted in attachment theory. In plain terms, we’ll look at how your earliest relationships taught you to cope, and why some of those strategies (people-pleasing, overworking, shutting down, staying on high alert) still show up today, even when they no longer serve you. We’ll also pay attention to what’s happening in your body, because anxiety and grief live there too, not just in your thoughts. With individuals, I draw from Internal Family Systems, DBT, ACT, Gestalt, TF-CBT, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, depending on what fits you. With couples, I use an integrative approach drawing from Gottman, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and psychodynamic work. You don’t need to arrive with the right words or a clear goal. Most people don’t. Naming what you’re feeling is often the first real step, and we’ll go at a pace that feels manageable.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is about getting to know you. We’ll talk about what brought you in, what’s been feeling heavy, and what you’d like to be different. I’ll ask about your history and your relationships, and you’re always welcome to share only what feels comfortable. You’ll also have a chance to ask me anything about how I work. From there, sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly at the start. A typical session might involve slowing down a recent moment that felt hard, noticing the pattern underneath it, and practicing something new, whether that’s a skill for calming your nervous system, a different way to respond to a partner, or room to grieve without rushing. Some weeks are more structured, and some are simply space to process. Both count. For couples, both partners attend every session together. I don’t hold individual sessions with either partner, and for virtual couples sessions, both partners need to be in the same location. Early sessions focus on understanding your patterns as a couple, and later sessions shift toward practicing new ways to communicate and reconnect. We’ll check in on your goals regularly and adjust as you grow. I offer virtual sessions across Colorado and Tennessee and in-person sessions in Denver. Superbills are available if you’d like to seek out-of-network reimbursement.
