Hello! I'm so glad you have made the decision to start your journey towards making positive changes for yourself. I specialize in helping my clients who are struggling to manage emotions and behaviors that are interfering with their daily functioning in areas such as relationships, work, parenting, school, etc. These struggles may be the result of a single event that threatened survival, like a car accident, or from a chronic history of trauma and loss. Or maybe one struggles to manage their emotions and behaviors, but doesn't know why. Maybe their life seems pretty good or even great. But they're puzzled as to why they feel the way they do. One may have thought, "I have no reason to feel this way." I invite you to explore with me the possibilities. There are times we all need help. My approach I use a variety of approaches in therapy based on your needs. EMDR is the gold standard of care for the treatment of trauma and is particularly effective for reducing symptoms from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, natural disasters, and other experiences and issues such as loss and grief, relationship issues, childhood neglect, self-esteem, co-dependency, etc. It can be used for processing most issues. Research shows EMDR to be more effective than "talk therapy." I also take from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Sometimes our thoughts and feelings may be influencing us in negative ways. These models assist in helping us explore and make changes in those areas. Sandtray therapy is also a wonderful tool to assist you in expressing thoughts and feelings. The Internal Family Systems model helps us identify unhelpful defenses we learned in order to survive in the environments we grew up in. These defenses may no longer be needed as much and may be negatively impacting us in ways we are not aware of.
