Getting to know Watha Dubonnet

Hi there, I'm Watha! Hi. My name is Watha Dubonnet. In addition to being a Marriage and Family Therapist for thirty-plus years, I have raised three kids, been worked over by a two-year-old, and survived their teenage years. I fell in love with my grandson, forgot how to say no, but he grew up in spite of me anyway. Life throws all kinds of fastballs at us sometimes, and I am here to help. You are not alone. My approach After all these years, it depends on what the patient wants and needs. Some seek self-exploration, others want educational information to understand, manage, and cope with life, family, relationships, mood swings, anxiety, stress, chronic depression, domestic issues, and trauma, whether current or past. Therapy addresses issues disturbing your ability to function. Behavioral modification with cognitive thought-stopping techniques is effective with proper support. Grief support benefits those feeling isolated and alone. There is support for those with bipolar disorder—I know how hard it is to understand when moods run asunder. I will refer back to a prescribing physician if needed. Medication can be valuable, effective, and must be monitored. Life is not easy... you are not alone. My focus I generally work with clients seeking help, safety, and understanding of their situation. Trauma and stress are prevailing themes. Solutions, options, and support go a long way for those beyond their ability to get on in life. Today's society moves fast with pressure, chemical dependence, mental challenges, and societal expectations—sometimes it takes someone to slow it down. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Pacifica Graduate Institute, which has deeply informed my approach and commitment to helping others navigate life’s challenges.
