Culturally responsive counseling with an emphasis on supporting you as you decide what is impacting you and what, if anything, can be done to change the results. I've lived coast to coast, hustled in the intercity, and worked as a professional with every client population you can imagine. I have specialized training in mental health, substance abuse, and vocational counseling. I can listen and be a guide as you explore your desires and roads to reaching fulfillment. My approach I assist clients in understanding how their thoughts are affecting their behaviors and vice versa. Together, we will build plans for increasing resiliency so that you can live your best life. My focus You are the client I am looking for as I build this practice. I have worked in every setting imaginable with men and women, and teens. I can tackle life adjustments with you. Addictions, depression, anxiety, and relationship problems are tough; you don't have to think alone. I am a resource finder too; support is out there even when a counselor isn't. We can work it together! My communication style I'm open, honest, and blunt. I will ask questions and dig deeper. I can't read minds and try not to make assumptions. You will be responsible for your journey. My journey to mental healthcare I was drawn to family members and friends who had drug and legal problems as a teen, and I started studying psychology. My first job was as a caregiver in a group home for severely mentally ill adults, then in a halfway house, crisis unit, nursing home, sheltered workshop, treatment centers, private practice, and lastly with the military. I loved working with people with the conditions that I was learning about in school. Over the years, I've used techniques I've learned to pull me through situations, and the most important tool I've used is counseling for myself. My goals for you Treatment goals will be developed together. As you know, if you don't want something, it is not going to happen.
