“Wendy took and takes the time to get to know me and the way I learn. This has helped me tremendously as she has given me different techniques to try that has helped heal me in so many areas of my life. She has been able to help me realize that ALL things are possible if we put the work in to achieve our goals. I knew when there was absolutely NO judgement from her, that I would be healthy and whole and able to follow my dreams!!!”

Getting to know Wendy Burchett

I have been working as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for the last 8 years. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Saint Mary’s College of California. I have worked in the community with individuals, couples, youth with high-risk behaviors, and military families. I specialize in working with individuals, women’s issues, couples, substance abuse and recovery, trauma, military populations, and adolescents. I am currently in a doctoral program locally and expect to earn my doctorate in applied clinical psychology in 2023. While working with my clients, I focus on the whole person, pulling forward your own strengths and wisdom to solve life’s challenges. I use solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, and emotion-focused interventions. I also have seven years of experience working with people outdoors in nature. I have a certificate in nutrition for mental health and believe in holistic treatment involving mind, body, and spirit. I will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is right for you as an individual. If you want to work holistically, we will develop a plan to address all three aspects, and if you don’t prefer to work holistically, I will tailor your treatment to your specific interests. I value the rapport I develop with my clients above all else. The nature of the therapeutic relationship is the catalyst and holding space that creates safety to do all future work together. Choosing the right therapist who has a personality you are comfortable with is of utmost importance. Let’s find out if we can do some great work together to solve life’s many challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

After our first session together, you will know who I am and how I work as a therapist. You can expect to share about your history during our first session and what current challenges bring you into treatment. After each session you can expect to have optional assignments to work on during the week that will help move you towards accomplishing your goals in therapy. You can also expect to begin to see changes in your understanding of yourself and others. In therapy, emotions rise to the surface and you may begin to feel those emotions more acutely. You will learn in therapy how to tolerate uncomfortable emotions and how to work with your emotions to help you rather than hinder you individually, and in relationship to others.

In-network insurances

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Wendy has been very helpful to me as I worked my way out of depression and anxiety. She has offered useful resources , perspective, and insights that I really appreciated. She is very much on target, a very attentive and discerning observer and listener. She has reflected back to me my behaviors and comments in a way that have helped me become a more astute self-observer and better at self-regulation. I'm really grateful to work with Wendy. I feel her compassionate observations and support have been really intelligent and empowering as well as authentic and direct. I highly recommend Wendy as a therapist and counselor.
her empathy is outstanding
I have learned so much from Wendy and how to deal with problems that have been challenging with a very sick daughter with severe substance abuse disorder.
Wendy is also open-minded, working with me to come up with different options that help me better than others might. She’s patient and empathetic. She’s easy to talk to. I feel hopeful with her and I am making progress.
