Wendy Trudeau, LISW

Psychotherapist
OH
I am based in Sylvania, Ohio providing Telehealth services statewide. My goal in working with adults is to help validate clients and give them the opportunity to learn to manage thoughts and feelings about life transitions, including traumatic life experiences, chronic illness, and adjusting to life transitions. My approach I have had a diverse and extensive training background so am able to offer an eclectic approach tailored to the needs of the individual client. The main approaches I use are trauma-focused client-centered therapy, Psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, and Clinical Hypnotherapy. My focus I find that my approach is helpful to clients that are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. Many people I work with are dealing with life transitions. Others have experienced trauma: emotional, physical or sexual abuse history as an adult or child; chronic medical conditions; chronic illness such as diabetes; chronic pain conditions; accidents; military service; narcissistic abuse. My job for each client is to validate their experiences, provide education about their condition and offer suggestions and skills to help manage symptoms. My communication style My style is empathic but direct. I strive to help clients feel comfortable talking about why they are seeking assistance at this time and how I can support them. It is important to me that clients know they are heard and understood, to the best of my ability to do so. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been passionate about helping people and my work has allowed me to do this. When I first started college, there were cultural stigmas associated with mental illness and substance addictions. My BS was in Occupational Therapy and I became fascinated with early research on the neurobiological basis of mental illness.
