“I initially booked for a pre-Bariatrics surgery, which is a requirement for my insurance, however, I felt so comfortable talking to her and saw that ongoing therapy would be beneficial for me, that I rebooked for ongoing therapy would. Whitney was so down to earth, professional and easy to talk to. I felt supported and not judged.”

Getting to know Whitney Bonds

You may know something needs to change without knowing where to start. Maybe anxiety is taking up too much space, you’re feeling disconnected from yourself, or the ways you’ve always coped aren’t working as well anymore. You don’t need to have it all figured out before coming to therapy. I’m Whitney Bonds, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. I offer a space where you can be honest about what’s going on, feel understood, and move at a pace that feels right for you. Just a quick note as you consider booking: I’m a therapist, not a psychiatrist, so I don’t prescribe medication. I’m here to support you through therapy, whether or not medication is part of your care. I bring a lot of heart and personality to our sessions, while helping us stay focused on what matters to you. I’m curious about the patterns that show up in your life and the experiences that shaped them. In our work together, we’ll make room for difficult emotions, build practical tools, and find ways to respond to challenges that feel more like "you". I’ll bring compassion and structure to our sessions, along with an appreciation for how much grit it can take to do this work. Therapy is collaborative. You can expect thoughtful questions, honest conversations, and support that fits your goals. Whether you’re facing a specific challenge or simply feeling that something isn’t quite right, we can start where you are.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m warm, engaged, and easy to talk to. I’ll meet you with compassion and curiosity, and I’ll also be honest with you when I notice a pattern that might be worth exploring. Therapy with me is a conversation: we’ll make space for what you’re feeling and work on things you can use in your everyday life. "What if I don’t know where to start?" That’s completely okay. You can tell me what’s been happening lately, or simply say, “I’m not sure why I feel this way.” I’ll ask questions and help us find a place to begin. "Will I have to talk about my past right away?" No. Your past may help us understand what’s happening now, but we don’t have to go somewhere you’re not ready to go. We can focus on what you need today and revisit other things when the time feels right. "What if I’m doing fine on the outside but struggling inside?" You’re welcome here. You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to ask for support. We can look at the anxiety, burnout, self-doubt, or relationship patterns that others may not see. "Will you just listen, or will you give me tools?" Both. Some days you may need room to talk something through. Other days we might practice a skill, look at a situation from a different angle, or make a plan for the week ahead. I’ll ask what feels helpful and adapt as we go. "What if we’re not the right fit?" You can tell me what is and isn’t working. Feeling comfortable with your therapist matters, and you deserve to have a say in how we work together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll begin by talking about what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been carrying, and what you hope might feel different. You don’t need to have a clear goal right away. We can figure that out together, and I’ll check in along the way to make sure our work feels useful to you. I use an integrative approach, which means I draw from different types of therapy based on your needs: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) offers practical skills for managing intense emotions, getting through difficult moments, setting boundaries, and communicating effectively. We may use these tools when you need support with something happening in your life right now. Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps us get curious about the different parts of you. For example, one part may want connection while another pulls away to avoid getting hurt. Rather than judging those reactions, we’ll work to understand what they’re trying to protect and build a more compassionate relationship with yourself. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps us notice how thoughts, feelings, and actions influence one another. We can look at patterns such as self-criticism or expecting the worst, then practice responses that feel more balanced and helpful. Some sessions may focus on understanding a pattern; others may focus on a skill you can use that week. We’ll make room for both insight and practical change, at a pace that works for you.
