Hi there, I'm Wilfredo! Wilfredo Guzman (he/him/his/él) is a Bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Orlando, Florida. He is a native of New Jersey and has called Central Florida home for over 20 years. He completed his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Wilfredo received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Nonprofit Organization Management from the University of Central Florida. When not working with people, you can find Wilfredo relaxing near a body of water or socializing to build community. My approach Wilfredo aims for the client and counselor to establish an emotional and social connection that supports people to explore solutions to their problems. Wilfredo knows that no single approach is the right one for every individual so he has been trained in various modalities focusing on evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused Therapy. My focus Wilfredo has experience servicing diverse populations such as at-risk youth, people experiencing homelessness, people living with HIV, LGBTQ+ issues, addiction/substance misuse, aggressors of abuse, and victims of trauma and crime. My communication style Wilfredo invites potential clients to join in on a collaborative effort to explore mental wellness with an emphasis on increasing the quality of and satisfaction with life. He uses direct communication with clients and will provide additional resources at times to clients to expand and enhance their growth journey outside of session. My journey to mental healthcare Through lived experiences, direct client work, and education, Wilfredo has come to learn that people experience trauma or severe life stressors that can lead to their lives unraveling. Counseling and therapy is good when we are just existing in the world. When there are some additional stressors or we have been feeling stuck in survival mode.
