Hi there, I'm William! Hi, my name is Bill Middleton. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in California and Illinois, and an ordained Christian minister. I am based in Carlsbad, California, providing telehealth services. Over 30 years, I have counseled Marines, sailors, and military families worldwide. I work with all ages dealing with stress, grief, family communication, and faith issues. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and other approaches to assist with life’s challenges. My approach My therapy begins with compassionate listening to everything on the mind and heart of the person seeking to be heard. We carefully explore what brings them to counseling, and I work to gain their trust to address both joys and concerns in daily life. All thoughts and feelings are important to hear and understand. My focus I have decades of experience working with young adults, married couples, and individuals in high-stress environments. I understand it takes courage to reach out, and my focus is to assure clients of the benefits of seeking help. My communication style I bring open and thoughtful listening to every encounter. I want clients to feel free to share whatever is bothering them. That freedom requires judgment-free communication, which is always my goal. At times, I was the sole counselor for over 1,000 military personnel on ships at sea or in remote locations, needing to meet people where they were. My journey to therapy My path began with a call to Christian ministry. I chose a dual Master’s degree program combining servant leadership in ministry and clinical social work skills. Both degrees made me a well-trained and versatile counselor and leader. I also earned a Doctor of Ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, enriching my ability to serve both spiritually and clinically.
